Anyone engaging in the following type of work needs to review the OSU silica control program:

  • Work involving manipulation of silica containing materials.
  • Cutting, sawing, drilling, or crushing concrete, brick, ceramic tiles, rock, or any stone products.
  • Doing abrasive blasting.
  • Dry sweeping or using pressurized air to blow concrete, rock, or sand dust.

If you think your work might result in even the possibility of respirable crystalline silica, please contact EHS to have your work area or process assessed. If it has already been determined that you need to have a silica exposure control plan, please fill out the attached template and post it at your worksite. Contact EHS for the required silica sign or if you have any other questions or concerns.
