After the Fire: A True Story of Heroes & Cowards recounts the story of a devastating college dorm fire at Seton Hall University on January 19, 2000. The fire, which was started as a prank, killed three college students and injured 56 students and firefighters. Two of the more seriously injured students, Shawn Simons and Alvaro Llanos, will be present to introduce the documentary film which tells their story of friendship, recovery, and moving past the events of the tragic fire. They will also share their personal story and answer questions from the audience. Shawn and Alvaro came to Corvallis seven years ago to present the film along with the film’s producer/director Guido Verweyen. Since then, they have been traveling the country telling their story and motivating large crowds of college students, high school students, and firefighters.

The presentation is free and open to the public. An opportunity will be provided after the presentation to purchase After the Fire books and DVDs, and visit with Shawn and Alvaro.

February 27th at 7:00 p.m. at the LaSells Stewart Center. Admission is free!
